Woodturning Beginners Courses

Beginners Plus Course

After turning for a few months, or perhaps after completing our one or two-day beginners courses, you might be excited to build on your new skills.

Our new ‘Beginners Plus‘ woodturning course is the perfect opportunity to elevate the skills you’ve developed and take them to the next level by incorporating new techniques.

Create a beautifully decorated ogee bowl to refresh and enhance your bowl-turning abilities, and master your precision and hollowing skills with an elegant goblet or chalice. Additionally, you’ll discover some advanced finishing techniques like lacquering a piece and mixing types of finish for stunning results.

Decorated Ogee Bowl

Turning an ogee-shaped bowl will masterfully train you to move your body and bowl gouge fluidly in various directions, easily achieving an elegant shape.

Moreover, by adding dyes to the rim of the piece, you will expertly introduce colour to your woodwork, elevating the effect and adding another impressive skill to your repertoire!

Thin stemmed Goblet

Every turner turns a goblet fairly soon after taking up the craft and quickly learns that it’s not as easy as it looks!

After lunch on this course, you’ll delve into end-grain hollowing and refine your confident, yet delicate tool control to craft the perfect goblet stem!

We’ve got everything covered for you. From the turner’s smock to the tools and even lunch—just show up and dive into a fun, creative day learning something new!
