What Personal Data We Collect And Why We Collect It
COMMENTS AND REVIEWS
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Your comment will also be available together with the date of the comment and your name in either First/Last Name format, or your Initials.
MEDIA
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. As far as possible, images to the site have this Meta Data stripped. Visitors to the website may download and extract any location data from images on the website.
CONTACT FORMS
If you use the contact form on this site, it collects the information you provide in order for me to contact you back. This includes your name, email address, phone number and any information you provide in the subject and message boxes. To help prevent spam, the browser agent, and IP address of the computer is also collected. This information is emailed to us directly and responded to accordingly. It is not used for any further commercial or marketing reason – purely to communicate with you about the content of your message.
Messages with queries about the products, services or the company, may be anonymously added to the website FAQ section for others to benefit from the answer.
ORDER FULFILLMENT
When you place an order, a record of your name, company name, email address, shipping address, billing address, computer IP address, amount spent and products ordered are kept on the website. This data is passed to payment providers, Stripe and to our accounts software provider (Xero.com).
MARKETING, PROMOTION AND NEWS SHARING
When you join the site, make a purchase or join a mailing list on this website, we use your name and email address to pass occasional information to you about news relating to The Woodturning Shop (and the main business, Woodturning Online Ltd) and the company’s products which includes hints and tips, marketing and promotional material from ourselves, or members of our vendor network. Your data is not shared outside of Woodturning Online Ltd.
You can choose to select your email preferences in your account on the website. Or you can unsubscribe from the list at any time.

WHO WE SHARE YOUR DATA WITH
We do not share your data with anyone outside of Woodturning Online Ltd for marketing or promotional purposes. See below for where your data is sent to enable me to process payments and orders through this site.
HOW LONG WE RETAIN YOUR DATA
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information. Use the GDPR link in your account dashboard to download or delete data.
From 25th May 2018:
Pending (unpaid), failed and cancelled orders will be deleted after 1 month following the creation, failure or cancellation of the order,
Completed orders must be kept for 7 years,
*For legal reasons, details of financial transactions must be kept for a minimum of seven years. This is Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs requirements is a compulsory for a UK business to adhere to.
WHERE WE SEND YOUR DATA
Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service. Data you add to this site through purchasing as kept on our accounts software in accordance with the law. See www.xero.com for their privacy statements. Your data may also be sent to PayPal in order to process your payment if you choose to pay via this service. Visit www.stripe.com for information on their privacy policy. Your name, company name, shipping address, email address and contact phone number are passed on to shipping companies to enable them to deliver order safely. They may use your email address to send you tracking information and your phone number if they need to contact you regarding the order or delivery.
