Intermediate & Advanced Woodturning

Japanese Style Rice Bowl

Join Martin on 22nd March as he guides you through the turning and decorating of a Japanese-inspired rice bowl. The piece is roughly 4x2.5”

Using principles of exquisite form, you will learn about elegant lines, proportions and turning thin-walled end-grain pieces.

After turning the piece, Martin will guide you through his process of painting the piece using rich gesso paints and the specific technique used for the brush marks seen on the sample piece on this page.

Towards the end of the day (and if time allows), embellish the piece with an attractive stencil design in metallic gold leaf before reverse mounting the piece to trim the tenon down to size and finishing the piece off.

See below for everything that is included on this (at the moment) one-off class.
