Intermediate & Advanced Woodturning

SUnDAY Japanese Style Rice Bowl

Join Martin on a Sunday as he guides you through the turning and decorating of a Japanese-inspired rice bowl. The piece is roughly 4x2.5”

Using principles of exquisite form, you will learn about elegant lines, proportions and turning thin-walled end-grain pieces.

After turning the piece, Martin will guide you through his process of using coloured dyes to produce atmospheric decoration of the outside of the piece.

Towards the end of the day (and if time allows), embellish the piece with an attractive stencil design in metallic gold leaf before reverse mounting the piece to trim the tenon down to size and finishing the piece off.

Due to the timings of the day (10am - 4pm latest), lunch is NOT included on this class. Please bring a packed lunch.
